In September of 2018, I set up a table with drawing supplies at street fairs in NYC and asked people to draw a New Yorker with me in support of The New York Health Act, the state universal single-payer healthcare bill.
At the table, drawers shared their experiences with access to insurance and thoughts on healthcare legislation.
The drawings were assembled at the 2018 Forward Union Fair at Red Bull Arts, where fair goers could draw and speak with representatives from The Campaign for New York Health.
I got involved with the fight for universal healthcare because I believe our ability to see a doctor and get treatment should not be tied to our employment or immigration status.

Kids were so eager to draw, which often brought their parents into the conversation.
